Kingdom Disciples

What identifies the people of God and determines membership in His Assembly is Jesus, especially the Messiah revealed on the cross,  and nothing else ! This does not mean that the Law of Moses served no purpose, but it is not the basis for determining who is acquitted of sin by God. Right standing before Him is obtained “ through the faith OF Jesus Christ ,” and not “ from the deeds of the Law .”

Dans l'Évangile de Matthieu , un ange a informé Joseph que l'enfant porté par Marie était “ engendré du Saint-Esprit ” et lui a demandé de nommer l'enfant ‘Jésus’ – “ Appelez son nom Jésus, car il sauvera son peuple de leurs péchés .” Ce nom indiquait l'acte salvifique de Dieu pour Son peuple qu'Il était sur le point de révéler en Son Fils.

Jesus proclaimed a new political reality, the Kingdom of God, one that bears little resemblance to the political regimes of this world . Jesus arrived in Galilee proclaiming the “ Kingdom of God ” – “ Repent, for the kingdom is at hand .” In his ministry, the reign of God was invading the Earth. However, the nature of his realm was radically different than the governments and political ideologies of the existing world order, and more than once, Jesus refused political power, especially when offered by Satan.

After defeating Satan in the wilderness, Jesus began proclaiming the “Good News” of the Kingdom in Galilee – “ The season is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel .” Although the clause “ Kingdom of God ” was a summary statement that meant different things to different people, Jesus identified his mission with the glorious “ Son of Man ” figure described in the Book of Daniel .

Jésus est le Fils de David et l'héritier du Trône messianique, le Fils bien-aimé de Dieu et le Serviteur souffrant de Yahvé . L'Évangile de Matthieu  déclare que Jésus est “ le Fils de David ” promis. Ce même Jésus a démontré ce que signifie être le roi d'Israël, en particulier par sa mort sacrificielle. Traditionnellement et scripturairement, le roi idéal espéré était lié à la Maison de David. Avec l'arrivée du Nazaréen, cette compréhension fut à jamais altérée.

The young rich man approached Jesus to ask what he should do to inherit everlasting life. In the passage, the reader is confronted with the cost of discipleship. In the version found in the Gospel of Matthew , this man is described as “ young ,” and in Luke , he is a “ ruler ,” presumably, of the local synagogue. He was someone of status in the community. His haste to ask this question points to his sincerity.
