Kingdom Disciples

The gift of the Spirit is essential to the identity, mission, and life of the Church. It is foundational to the New Covenant . Jesus commanded his disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they received “ the promise of the Father .” The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost inaugurated the Church and the last days and equipped the followers of Christ to take his Good News to the nations – (Luk 24:46-49, Acts 1:7-8, 2:1-21).

Le don de l'Esprit est essentiel à l'identité, à la mission et à la vie de l'Église. C'est fondamental pour la Nouvelle Alliance . Jésus a ordonné à ses disciples d'attendre à Jérusalem jusqu'à ce qu'ils reçoivent “ la promesse du Père .” L'effusion du Saint-Esprit le jour de la Pentecôte a inauguré l'Église et les derniers jours et a équipé les disciples du Christ pour apporter sa Bonne Nouvelle aux nations – (Luc 24: 46-49, Actes 1: 7-8, 2: 1-21).

The gift of the Spirit demonstrates beyond question who belongs to the covenant community of Christ, and who does not . “ False brethren ” were preaching “ another gospel ” in the churches of Galatia, a “gospel” that requires Gentile believers to adopt circumcision and otherwise conform to the regulations of the Mosaic Law. Paul repudiated this false teaching in his letter to the Galatians and explained why circumcision is unnecessary for Gentiles.

Le don de l'Esprit démontre indiscutablement qui appartient à la communauté d'alliance du Christ et qui n'en fait pas partie . “ Les faux frères ” prêchaient “ un autre évangile ” dans les églises de Galatie, un “évangile” qui exige que les croyants gentils adoptent la circoncision et se conforment autrement aux règlements de la Loi mosaïque. Paul a répudié ce faux enseignement dans sa lettre aux Galates et a expliqué pourquoi la circoncision n'est pas nécessaire pour les Gentils.

With the outpouring of the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, the blessings for all nations promised to Abraham commenced . The gift of the Holy Spirit is described as “the promise of the Father” in the New Testament, which connects this gift to the Abrahamic covenant. The promises to Abraham and his seed are fulfilled in the New Covenant inaugurated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Spirit is the guarantee that we will inherit all that God has promised.

Avec l'effusion de l'Esprit le jour de la Pentecôte, les bénédictions promises à Abraham pour toutes les nations ont commencé . Le don de l'Esprit Saint est décrit comme “la promesse du Père” dans le Nouveau Testament, qui relie ce don à l'alliance abrahamique. Les promesses faites à Abraham et à sa postérité sont accomplies dans la Nouvelle Alliance inaugurée par la mort et la résurrection de Jésus-Christ, et le don de l'Esprit est la garantie que nous hériterons de tout ce que Dieu a promis.

Paul présente les points d'accord et de désaccord avec ses adversaires judaïsants en Galatie - Galates 2:15-21. Ce qui identifie le peuple de Dieu et détermine l'appartenance à Sa communauté d'alliance, c'est Christ, en particulier le Messie qui a été révélé sur la Croix. Les Juifs et les Gentils sont justifiés par Jésus et sa mort,  et rien d'autre !

Le don de l'Esprit est l'une des bénédictions d'Abraham que Dieu a promis d'accorder à Son peuple par Son Messie . Paul se réfère à “ la promesse de l'Esprit ” dans sa lettre aux Galates. Il identifie ce don avec la bénédiction d'Abraham. Jésus est venu sous la malédiction de la Loi pour nous racheter, afin que maintenant, “ la bénédiction d'Abraham puisse venir sur les nations par Jésus-Christ, afin que nous puissions recevoir la promesse de l'Esprit par la foi ” - (Galates 3: 13-14).

Le retour à la juridiction de la Torah signifie la restauration des anciennes barrières sociales entre Juifs et Gentils . Le troisième chapitre des  Galates  est essentiel à l'argument de Paul pour l'unité du peuple de Dieu. Les anciennes divisions sociales sous la Législation Mosaïque sont inappropriées dans la Seule Communauté d'Alliance de Dieu depuis que “ la Postérité d'Abraham ” promise est arrivée, à savoir Jésus de Nazareth. Dans l'Assemblée du Christ, “ Il ne peut plus y avoir de Juif ou de Grec! ”

The promises, types, and shadows of the Hebrew Bible are fulfilled in the Son of God and Messiah of Israel, Jesus of Nazareth . An accusation heard in popular preaching is  “Replacement Theology,”  a barely disguised charge of Antisemitism. This dreaded label is hurled against those who claim that a promise from the Hebrew Bible made to Ancient Israel is fulfilled in Jesus and his Church. This term misses the point – The New Testament focus is on  fulfillment , not  separation  or  replacement .

With the outpouring of the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, the blessings for all nations of the Abrahamic Covenant commenced . The “ Promise of the Father ” is the Gift of the Spirit, which the Apostle Paul links to the Abrahamic Covenant. The promises made to the Patriarch are fulfilled in the covenant inaugurated by Jesus. The bestowal of the Spirit on his Church on the Day of Pentecost marked the commencement of the “ Last Days ,” the age when the promises of God are fulfilled.

Avec l'effusion de l'Esprit le jour de la Pentecôte, les bénédictions pour toutes les nations de l'Alliance abrahamique ont commencé . “ La Promesse du Père ” est le Don de l'Esprit, que l'apôtre Paul relie à l'Alliance abrahamique. Les promesses faites au Patriarche s'accomplissent dans l'alliance inaugurée par Jésus. L'effusion de l'Esprit sur son Église le jour de la Pentecôte a marqué le début “ des Derniers Jours ”, l'âge où les promesses de Dieu sont accomplies.

The issue in Galatia was whether Gentiles must be circumcised and keep some, at least, of the deeds required by the Torah . The Letter to the Galatians is Paul’s response to a controversy that had developed among the congregations of Galatia. At issue was the status of Gentile believers. Must they conform to Jewish practices and submit to the regulations of the Mosaic Law to become members of the covenant community, especially the rite of circumcision ?

The Judaizing faction in Galatia proclaimed a message that deviated from the Apostolic Tradition and twisted the true Gospel – Galatians 1:6-12. The Letter to the Galatians  opens with a stern warning. What some believers contemplated doing would replace the Gospel of Jesus with something alien. To turn from the “ faith of Jesus Christ ” to the “ works of the law ” for justification meant abandoning the grace of God and rejecting the message preached by Paul. This is why he summoned God to “ curse ” any man, “ even an angel from Heaven ,” who preached “ another gospel .”

Jésus est la Semence d'Abraham, l'héritier des promesses de l'alliance, et la réception de l'héritage est basée sur la foi en Lui . Comme le déclare l'Évangile de Matthieu , Jésus est le “ fils d'Abraham .” L'humble homme de Nazareth est le Messie et le Roi d'Israël, la “ Semence ” promise du Patriarche. Il accomplit les promesses de l'alliance. Il est l'héritier de l'alliance, et notre réception de l'héritage est basée sur sa fidèle “ obéissance jusqu'à la mort ” et notre foi en lui. Ni l'ethnicité ni la nationalité n'ont rien à voir avec cela .

Jesus is the Seed of Abraham, the heir of the covenant promises, and receipt of the inheritance is based on how we respond to him . The  Gospel of Matthew  declares Jesus to be the “ son of Abraham .” The lowly Nazarene is the Messiah and King of Israel, the promised “ Seed ” of the Patriarch. Christ brings the covenant promises to fulfillment since he is  the covenant heir, and our participation in the inheritance is based on the “ faith of Jesus ,” and consequently, our faith in him.

Les chrétiens sont les héritiers d'Abraham. La possession future de cet héritage est garantie par le Don de l'Esprit . La possession de Canaan par Israël était une étape antérieure du plan rédempteur de Dieu, qui envisageait toujours quelque chose de plus grand qu'Israël ou une petite parcelle de terre au Moyen-Orient. Avec l'arrivée du Messie et l'effusion de l'Esprit, les promesses de l'alliance ont commencé à trouver leur accomplissement dans la véritable “ Postérité d'Abraham ” et, par conséquent, dans ses “ frères ” et “ cohéritiers .”

Returning to the custodianship of the Law would mean rebuilding the wall between Jews and Gentiles, but “you are all one in Christ.” The Apostle Paul compared the Mosaic Law to a “ pedagogue ” in its supervision of Israel “ until the seed came .” That “ Seed ” was Jesus. In Greco-Roman society, the “pedagogue” was a slave with custodial and disciplinary authority over an underage child until he reached maturity. The minority status of the child and the authority of the custodian over him were both temporary.

La juridiction des règlements Mosaïques sur la communauté de l'alliance a atteint sa limite avec l'arrivée de Jésus, la Postérité d'Abraham . En répondant aux affirmations selon lesquelles les Gentils doivent être circoncis, Paul a fait appel à l'expérience commune de l'Esprit reçue par les Galates.  Ont-ils reçu le Don par une “ audition de la foi ” ou “ par les œuvres de la Loi? ” Ayant commencé dans l'Esprit, pourquoi cherchaient - ils “ l'achèvement ” de leur foi basée sur la “ chair ” en se soumettant à la circoncision?

With the new era inaugurated by Jesus, circumcision is no longer the required sign of membership in the covenant community . Circumcision is an obstacle to any claim that believers must keep the regulations of the Mosaic Law to be saved. Circumcision was the entrance rite of the covenant with Abraham. Moreover, it was mandatory under the Law given through Moses at Mount Sinai; it was never optional . Therefore, if circumcision is no longer required for membership in the People of God, the jurisdiction or content of the Mosaic Law has changed, if not ended.
